Aim

We're raising money for Wheels and Wheelchairs so they can continue bringing joy and happiness to wheelchair users.

After three years, the plan finally becomes reality this year when Isaac Harvey MBE and Kevin Ly will be taking on the Berlin Marathon double on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September.

Across one weekend, they will complete the Berlin Inline Skate marathon on Saturday followed by the Berlin Running marathon on Sunday, while raising £5,000 for Wheels and Wheelchairs. Alongside the challenge itself, they are also hoping to set a new benchmark by becoming the first duo known to complete both events across the same consecutive weekend.

This is about much more than two demanding days in Berlin. It is about raising money for Wheels and Wheelchairs, a group of wheelchair users and skaters who skate together to enjoy the sensory rush of speed, the joys of friendship and the thrills and achievements of accessible sport; and has been operating for over 13 years to open up new ways for wheelchair users and people with disabilities to experience the outdoors, take part in challenges and enjoy moments that might once have felt out of reach.

For Isaac, this challenge reflects a lifetime of doing things a little differently. Born with a disability, he has always been interested in exploring what is possible with the right mindset, the right support and a willingness to adapt. That approach has taken him into many spaces, from skiing and skydiving to speaking in front of 10,000 people at Wembley and sharing his lived experience on major platforms. It has also led to him receiving an MBE and many other recognitions along the way.

For Kevin, this challenge comes from years of dedication to Wheels and Wheelchairs itself. He has been a huge supporter of the group, regularly giving up his weekends and evenings to help wheelchair users take part, preparing equipment and making sure people feel included and able to join in. After taking up running during Covid, Kevin came up with the idea that one day he and Isaac should take on the Berlin double together, and now that idea is becoming real.

Wheels and Wheelchairs has created so many opportunities over the years. It has brought people together, built confidence and created adventures that go far beyond sport. From weekly street skates with London Friday Night Skates; to the Brighton to Paris challenge, when we skated from Brighton to the start of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games to celebrate 12 years of Wheels and Wheelchairs; it has shown what can happen when community, trust, and support come together.

The money raised will help Wheels and Wheelchairs create more of these experiences, invest in better equipment and make sure more wheelchair users and people with disabilities can enjoy the outdoors, be part of the group and take on new adventures of their own.

Every donation, big or small, will help make that possible.
