To transform our club into a sustainable sports hub that increases participation in bowls by reducing costs and improving facilities.
For over 40 years Berkhamsted Bowls Club has been at the heart of the local community. It's more than just a place to play bowls, it's a vital social hub where generations connect, friendships flourish, and staying active is a way of life.
We are proud to have a diverse membership of over 100 people including junior members and those with physical and learning disabilities. Whether you're a competitive bowler, a complete novice or a social member there is a place for you in our club.
Our mission is to provide an affordable and a welcoming club where people of all ages and abilities can stay active, learn a new skill and enjoy a sense of belonging.

Like many clubs, we are facing rising energy costs and the wear and tear of time on our equipment. By installing high-efficiency solar panels on our clubhouse we will slash our carbon footprint and redirect energy costs back into the club and keep bowls affordable for all. Regardless of income, age or any disabilities we want everyone to be able to enjoy an active lifestyle based around the game of bowls.
For many members, the club is their primary source of social interaction. Solar Panels will ensure the lights stay on and the doors stay open throughout the winter months.
Money raised will be spent as follows:
- Purchase and installation of solar panels £19,842
- Purchase of new green equipment including: Evensprey 50l professional fertiliser sprayer, new spiker tines, high power cordless strimmer, cordless hedge trimmer , new barrows & general gardening equipment £4,000

By supporting this project, you aren't just buying solar panels or mowers. You are helping to keep our community active, supporting sustainable energy in Berkhamsted, and ensuring that the next generation of bowlers has a place to play.
Our club isn't just about Bowls. We have a year round social programme where our members and community friends utilise our facilities. This includes evening social events, Bingo, Bridge, Film and Craft Clubs to name but a few.

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
