A snap by-election has been called for Thursday, May 2. Please give today to help us turn Blackpool South green.
I am standing to represent you in Parliament because I believe that Green policies can help make Blackpool great again. Our town holds a special place in millions of people’s hearts, both locals and visitors alike. And it has so much untapped potential. But we need someone who will do right by Blackpool.
My campaign will put the issues you care about in the spotlight. We have plans to beat the housing crisis, the climate emergency and the high cost of living. Bold and practical ideas. Now we are asking for your help to make those plans a reality.
Support for the Green Party is booming. We have gone from a handful of elected councillors to over 700 today – a stunning achievement. That’s because voters recognise our members are honest, diligent, and committed, and will work for them. We say what we believe and do what we say - and we always have.
Fighting for our Forgotten Communities
Everyone knows the Greens for our world-leading environmental policies. But we also have a raft of ambitious, carefully-costed proposals to make life better in every way, from lifelong education and well-funded health care to cutting crime and getting our economy back on track. No town could need this more than Blackpool.
The battle to preserve our great town and beautiful planet will only be won if people can earn a decent living and look after themselves and their families.
What we have at the moment is not working for the people of Blackpool. Too many places (and people) still feel neglected. I will relentlessly focus on how we help our communities and tackle the cost-of-living crisis that so painfully impacts lives here.
Why Ben?
Ben Thomas is a new face on the political scene.
Currently completing a degree at Manchester Metropolitan University, he is the opposite of a career politician. He wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth or parachuted into the constituency just to land himself a cushy seat in Westminster.
He is rooted in the community and knows the challenges we all face and what support we need to thrive. As the youngest-ever secretary of Blackpool & Fylde Green Party, he already has election experience and is just the enthusiastic, forward-looking candidate the town needs.
Your support matters
Ben is a fantastic candidate but needs your help to run the best campaign we can. The Green Party doesn't have rich backers, we have to raise all the money we spend. What we do have is people like you, who believe in what we do and want to help.
We need to raise at least £1,000 to be on the ballot paper, give voters an essential choice, and run a campaign that really hits home.
We’ll do that through leaflets. Social media. Knocking on doors and getting our winning message to Blackpool’s voters. Because our town is being let down by business-as-usual politics. The cost is worth it because the by-election will draw national media attention to Blackpool and to our excellent candidate.
But we also need help to fight the forthcoming General Election, whenever it occurs. So every penny you donate will also help us to campaign throughout this unique election year and offer the people of the Fylde Coast a genuine alternative to the stale politics of the past.
Please give what you can and with your help, we can raise the £1,000 needed to ensure the Green Party message is heard by Fylde Coast voters in 2024.
P.S. Because we're a political party
All donations will go to Blackpool & Fylde Green Party to help our campaign to elect Ben and to further contest the impending General Election.
We're required to run permissibility checks on donations over £500. These will be completed as pledges are made. For the same reason, we cannot accept anonymous donations over £500. If you make multiple donations to us, they may be aggregated for our reporting purposes.
