Increasing participation and contributing to positive health and wellbeing in our community
Belnaleck Art McMurroughs was established in 1902, to mark 120 years we wish to invite all our members, players, parents, former members, family and friends and people from across the Community have an opportunity to both celebrate and contribute to the club's endeavours
Use this space to give your audience a friendly introduction to your club or organisation.
Our club focuses on playing Gaelic Games and in particular Football and Hurling. we have over 400 members and currently field times at every grade of junior and senior footballs - boys, girls, ladies and men and at all underage levels in hurling.
We are also very focused on working in partnership with the wider community. This was highlighted during COVID when the club worked with the local community associations alongside all of the local churches and played a leadership role in helping people who were isolated and faced challenges during the public health crisis.
The club has played a really important role within our community over the last 120 years thanks to the vision and voluntary efforts of our members and supporters - we plan to build on this over the coming decade.
Coming out of Covid and the increasing challenges around the cost of living we are increasingly focusing on working with all of the community including our members to provide new opportunities and spaces to contribute to both physical and mental wellbeing.
Working with all of the groups in the Arney Hub including Cleenish Community Association we have exciting plans to offer new opportunities.
We also want to offer new volunteers with the opportunities to build their skills and knowledge - by offering opportunities to become coaches and instructors helping cover training costs, complete first aid training, etc.
We are crowdfunding to ensure we can provide a new range of courses, events and activities with a particular focus on actively engaging women and girls and older people in our community.
We plan to run new winter basketball and keep fit classes focusing on providing opportunities for girls and women.
We also planning another new initiative focusing on older people with a series of talks and activities. The new community walks are a fantastic new community resource, and we plan a serious of organised walks in early 2023, with the potential to set up a walking group.
Covid was a challenging time for us all - the Club itself had a real challenge fundraisng from the traditional club lotto. The door to door lotto sales slumped and people got out of the habit of playing the weekly lotto up until the present day! Less and less people are also carrying cash to buy the club lotto.
We have to find new ways of fundraising and we are really excited to ask for your support via the crowdfunding platforml

The money raised will be spent in 2023 to organise the new classes, courses and activities. A number of activities including the girl's basketball and some older people's activities have already been provisionally put in the diary!
