 New stretch target

The more money we can raise, the more Black creatives in the UK and musicians impacted by COVID in the US we can support.

This September, Paul Redding, the CEO of Beggars Group (home to the independent record labels 4AD, Matador, Rough Trade, XL, and Young Turks), will take on the huge challenge of swimming across the English Channel for charity.

He aims to raise £200,000 for two music charities, the PRS Foundation (UK) and Sweet Relief Musicians Fund (US). Split evenly between the two charities, the proceeds raised for the PRS Foundation will help them power up Black music creators and Black industry professionals through a large-scale program they will announce later this year. The donation to Sweet Relief will go directly to their Covid-19 Fund which provides much-needed financial support to US-based musicians and music industry workers affected by Coronavirus.

Watch these short videos about each charity:

The Channel challenge is the ultimate sponsored swim and a massive test of endurance. At a minimum 21 miles between the shores of England and France (the distance can be longer depending on the current), it is a marathon few have attempted and even fewer have been able to complete.

We are inviting friends and colleagues from the creative industries to help him reach his target. Beggars Group has already committed to donating £1,000 for every mile Redding covers, plus an extra £25,000 should he complete the Channel challenge. So please: dig deep.

*All money donated will be received by PRS Foundation (in the UK) and split equally with Sweet Relief.  All data will be shared between Beggars, PRS Foundation and Sweet Relief.
