Aim

Our aim is to deliver the most inclusive and diverse sports organisation in the region. Men, Women, Juniors, Physical Disability, Wheelchair

Who are we?

Bedford Tige1651236162_logo_bedfordtigers.pngrs enters its 19th year in 2022 and from our modest beginnings we now proudly sit as one of Bedfordshire's leading sporting organisations.

We currently deliver both Men's and Women's sections at the club and our Women's team competes in the Betfred Women's Super League. South!

In 2022 we relaunched our popular junior section after the Covid pandemic threatened to ruin it beyond recovery.

We are introducing a Super League Development Pathway for our Women's section which starts at U14s and progresses to senior rugby through the reserve grade side. This is in line with the newly launched Women's Super League Future's programme.

The boys junior pathway will include the relaunch of our Satellite Club's program.

The most exciting project is the planned formation of a Wheelchair team and Physical Disability sessions!

Community impact

Sport and physical activity makes people happier and healthier, and movement is the lens through which we can make that happen. It does the same thing for our communities, with life-changing, sustainable benefits that have huge economic and social value.

At the Tigers we aim to engage with the widest spectrum of athletes in our community. From performance level players in our Men's and Women's first teams, through our social level sides to our junior pathways.

And now we aim to break down disability barriers by creating a safe and enjoyable platform for people who's physical impairments exclude them from other sporting activities!

Why are we crowdfunding?

While we try to avoid using Covid-19 as an excuse we also can't ignore the impact it has had on us. Playing venues, playing equipment, insurances, match officials, medical equipment, travel expenses and other running costs continue to run away from us at a time when traditional sponsorships have reduced.

The ongoing costs for qualified staff also has an impact,  with many of our volunteers paying for things out of their own pockets in order to fulfil ever increasing requirements.

Both mens and women teams face long away trips including journeys to Wales to play Torfaen Tigers and Cardiff Demons respectively.

The cost of a new set of wheelchairs is also a multi thousand pound investment.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will all go towards the club's delivery in 2022/23 and beyond.

It will enable us to invest in a full set of Wheelchairs for our Wheelchair section allowing us to start a team who will benefit 12 months of the year!

With such a wide spectrum of activity, our investment in equipment needed to get training and games delivered is an ever increasing financial outgoing.

The above is in addition to various qualifications which are another cost that we can't avoid. Welfare officers, coaches, physios, first aid and DBS checks all come at a significant cost but are all necessary at every level to run the club.
