Hello all
Thank you for visiting this lovely Crowdfunder page.
I’m Suzie, normally a singer and songwriter from Cornwall but today I would be really grateful for your help and support on this crazy adventure I am about to embark upon! Raising some very special pennies for Mast Cell Action and my goal this year is to raise £10,000.
My history
(for those that are new to this) is that unfortunately my life changed dramatically after an anaphylactic shock which led to a mystery debilitating illness. It sadly predominantly left me bed bound. My journey since has been turbulent but I have never given up on getting better. After four long years I finally received a diagnosis of Graves Disease and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome which were triggered by this event.
MCAS is sadly where your Mast Cells throughout your body miscommunicate and see many things as a danger and over react causing regular random allergic reactions(sometimes anaphylactic), bone pain, memory loss, sight issues, numbness, swelling, fatigue to name a few of the many symptoms that flare up. Each case is unique and does not follow a standard pattern like many illness’s. It is gaining some exposure due to its mild link to long covid. Currently there is no cure but here’s hoping that those of us that suffer can eventually be in a better place after lots of lovely research and support from medical professionals.
I have never been great at asking for help so bare with my awkwardness at this plea. It is a tough pickle to be in realising that you may well be deteriorating again but life is all about hope and I live for it. When I was bed bound I dreamed of big adventures, escaping the four walls I was stuck within and getting back on my tootsies for some wandering. During those years walking was on the whole very challenging and on the great days I could walk with a crutch or be back on stage with my beautiful musical family.
Ever since I got my diagnosis and knowing how rare this condition was at the time I was determined that when I was in a better place I wanted to walk all the places that I thought would be impossible and raise pennies for Mast Cell research.
The Big Challenge
I have set myself the task to walk the whole of the beautiful Cornish coastline, The Isles of Scilly and The Three Peaks . To some this is easy but for me not so much. Bearing in mind a few years ago I could not walk and still have days where my mobility is not always so grande. Any form of support, would mean the world to me and others in my position, from a social share to a financial donation or even if you simply fancy joining one of the wanders. Life is for living and sometimes it takes a fight just to make each day worthwhile! I am a determined and chronically optimistic little lady so please join me in making some lives that wee bit easier including mine xxx
I’ve added some fun personal pledges on the right, have a look and hopefully there’s a special way I can thank you in return. We will be adding lots more so keep your eyes peeled. We will also be doing some wonderful gigs along the routes so if you would like to book us - please get in touch..
I will be updating you all very soon with the routes, dates and my progress.
Stay Tuned and Thank you for your phenomenal support
Lots of love and Big hugs
Suzie xx
