Aim: To create a series of inclusive, gender-neutral, Montessori-aligned children’s books that promote independence, social skills and resilience
Support me in publishing a series of twenty books that provide young children with clear, set-by-step guides on how to do everyday activities such as using the bathroom, going to nursery or getting ready for bed, as well as books on social skills, for example being polite and talking about feelings.
The series will be as inclusive as possible, gender-neutral language will be used and family relationships aren’t mentioned so that the books are suitable for all children regardless of their family situation. I will use photographs of a diverse range of children to illustrate the books so that children will be able to identify themselves within the stories and will want to follow the role models shown in the photos.
The money will be used to print first edition copies of the books to give to local good causes, for example schools, nurseries and libraries.
Books will also be given to those who donate as a thank you for contributing towards this new venture. Rewards will include ebooks, signed paperback copies, invites to an exclusive launch party as well as ‘Meet the Author’ events.
