Aim

Raise £3,000 to fund legal action and stop unsafe building on a toxic site in Cleckheaton, where asbestos has been found in homes.

Dangerous asbestos dust has been found in homes near a former industrial site off Westgate, Cleckheaton. Tests confirm both brown and white asbestos—one of the deadliest types.

This toxic site was home to chemical works, a foundry, and an asbestos factory. Soil tests showed dangerous levels of asbestos, lead, arsenic, and cyanide—some five times above safe limits. But the full risk is unknown because a key asbestos factory was left out of reports.

Construction is continuing, with plans for pile driving that could release even more toxic dust. Residents report:

  • Toddlers with blocked lungs
  • New asthma cases
  • Worsening chest problems, skin irritation, eye infections
  • Dust inside homes, on cars, and windows

Dust controls aren’t being followed, and councils haven’t acted enough despite asbestos found in 5 of 7 homes tested nearby.

We need £3,000 to fund legal action to stop this dangerous work now.

Please donate to protect Cleckheaton families.
