Unity Roots CIC (not for profit organisation) has been working with the Homeless or those at risk of becoming Homeless for 3 years now.
We have found that music and creative arts is an excellent way of engaging and working with people to give them the confidence, self esteem and new skills in order to address there aims in life.
We have refurbished a room into a music workshop, studio and counseling room and built the project so now there are over 50 people using the project who are turning their lives around because of it. The studio is managed by a very experienced ex CEO of an award winning charity along with participants who are currently homeless living in sheltered accommodation. They have been learning about sound engineering, youth work, running a business, becoming a musician or singer, addressing addiction or depression, gaining basic skills and qualifications and generally building their social and technical skills for a brighter future.
We run studio projects for the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless as well as offering our courses, activities and workshops out to other organisations working with vulnerable or at risk young people and adults as well as offering very cost effective recording studio services to young artists and bands who have little money and may be struggling to produce a demo.
Participants do not have to enter the music industry as our courses are designed to assist in what ever future path a person wishes to follow.
Please support this very worthwhile venture and make a real difference to people lives, thank you.
