Beach wheelchairs for the disabled in Exmouth

Aim: To raise sufficient funds to purchase disabled-friendly wheel chairs and associated storage/hoist facilities for people to access the beach

For some time, I have felt that disabled residents and visitors should be able to access our lovely beach in Exmouth, along with their friends and family. Unfortunately, this is not currently possible anywhere in East Devon and I have therefore researched the various options and established that there are custom made wheelchairs available for disabled people to access both the beach and the sea. I think this would be a lovely addition to our beach facilities.

Exmouth Town Council is fully behind this initiative and has given me permission to lead on the crowd funding application. East Devon District Council have also given agreement in principle for a piece of District Council owned land to be used for a storage unit.

My aspiration is that disabled people will be able to hire a wheelchair (at no charge) so that they can go on the beach with their family and friends and I urge you to support this lovely cause.

Funds raised will be used to purchase wheelchairs and a hoist, as well as a purpose built storage facility and a contribution towards staffing costs for the first year.
