Help us provide essential baby items, clothing & equipment to children and families living in poverty, facing financial hardship and crises.

OUR AIMS
Wolverhampton Baby Bank is dedicated to providing emergency support including immediate access to free nappies, baby food, clothing, nappies, toiletries, equipment and other critical items to families with infants and young children who are experiencing financial hardship in our local communities.
WHO ARE WE AND WHAT IS OUR PROJECT ABOUT
Wolverhampton Baby Bank was set up in October 2020 by the Women & Families Resource Centre (a registered charity based in Wolverhampton). This project is rooted in the firm belief of creating a safety net which ensures that no child goes without basic necessities and essentials. By providing practical support such as mattresses, cots, prams, nappies, and other baby essentials, we help reduce the financial strain on families who may otherwise be forced into debt or hardship to cover these costs.
Our organisation has served families in Wolverhampton for over 16 years, providing critical support through our baby bank, befriending, counselling services and family-centred wraparound care. We work directly with families living in extreme poverty, often referred to us in moments of deep crisis. We also signpost families to local services for budgeting, benefits, and financial planning, giving them tools to manage money more effectively. By easing financial pressure, parents gain confidence, children have safe essentials, and families can plan for the future, creating stronger, more independent households and healthier communities across Wolverhampton.
Choosing between a clean diaper for your baby and rent, food or bills is a choice no parent should have to make! Yet it’s a choice many in our community face daily.
Families in Wolverhampton are not just facing poverty. These figures translate into real challenges: parents going without meals to feed their children, babies without safe sleeping spaces, and families unable to afford baby essentials. The additional costs to households with a new baby (especially those requiring neonatal care), including electricity & water bills, travel for hospital appointments, baby food and essentials, can be a serious burden on families.
“You made me believe, I could be a good Mother” (Elisha, Service User)
“The baby bank has been a real lifeline for expectant mothers struggling with the ever-increasing cost of living, ensuring that they have the necessary resources to welcome their little ones with love & dignity.” (Health visitor)
We have experienced a huge demand for the baby bank service, and our waiting lists have become extensive with many families desperate for essential items. The families coming through the doors of Wolverhampton Baby Bank are not only experiencing material poverty, but they are also experiencing loneliness, social isolation, anxiety and shame. Many of the families we support through our existing befriending & counselling services are parents of young children, including single parents, young mums, and families struggling with low income, debt, or temporary unemployment. To bridge this gap, we need funding to purchase new, safe items, particularly where second-hand donations are unsuitable or unavailable. This means families can depend on us to meet their needs reliably, giving them peace of mind, reducing financial stress, and enabling them to focus on building more secure, independent futures.
“The baby bank helped me out so much when I was in need. I was in financial hardship, in between jobs, with no help from my daughter’s father. This is such a great organization! Thank you so much!”(Sara, Service User)
WHY ARE WE CROWDFUNDING
We are raising money to ensure that every family who turns to us has access to the essentials their baby needs to be safe, warm, fed and cared for. While we receive generous donations from the community, the demand for cots, mattresses, prams, nappies, and other baby essentials is higher than what donations alone can provide.
Here at Wolverhampton Baby Bank, we know from first -hand experience of the unprecedented challenges faced by parents of young children over the past few years, through the height of the pandemic and now as the cost-of-living crisis deepens. Child related expenses have equally soared leaving many parents in our community struggling with the financial burden of raising a child while facing unemployment or other unexpected hardships.
During the financial period 1st April 2025 - 31st March 2026, we distributed over 6223 baby essentials and equipment to over 486 families in need across Wolverhampton. This represents a 64.82% increase in demand from the previous year.
We are crowdfunding to ensure that we can meet the growing demand and provide vital supplies to families who need them most. This funding will help us purchase baby essentials such as formula, nappies, clothing, and hygiene products, which are often out of reach for those living on the edge. Donations and grants will make a direct impact, helping babies and young children grow up healthy and with dignity, and easing the stress felt by parents who are trying their best in difficult circumstances. We are also looking at setting up a community membership-based shop, aimed at providing free, affordable or heavily discounted surplus baby essentials & goods for members. This holistic approach supports parents in becoming more financially resilient and independent, reducing the immediate pressure of crisis and creating a foundation for a more secure future.
By supporting the Baby Bank, you’re not just providing a temporary fix, you’re offering hope, stability, and a lifeline to families in need. With your help, we will ensure that parents no longer have to choose between feeding their child and keeping their home warm. Together, we can ensure that all children in our community, regardless of their circumstances, have access to the essentials they need to thrive.
