Weʼre raising £1,600 to help Barnes Community Players reach £60k of charitable donations since 2000. Note: £3.6k = £63k = £3k/yr for 21yrs!
We're just £1600 shy of £60k!
Fergus O’Kelly, our much loved former Life President, sadly passed away on the 6th November aged 88. Fergus was one of the founder members of the BCP. He was in dozens of productions over the lifetime of the BCP and was, we believe, in every Christmas show right up until last year’s pantomime at Kitson Hall.
Robin Bushell died suddenly in February 2018 aged 60, having performed in and built sets for a great many shows including Jack and the Beanstalk in 2012 and Guys and Dolls in 2011, in which he deftly played Nathan Detroit, while Fergus aptly played Nicely-Nicely Johnson. Guys and Dolls will be screened in November 2021 marking the production's tenth anniversary.
Their warm and bubbly personalities were infectious and will live on forever in our hearts.
In their memory please support this year's Christmas Panto.Demic readings & screenings by helping us to fulfil one of the many reasons they, especially Fergus, was so proud of the BCP - our charitable donations.
We will be giving donations to:
Sightsavers - Fergus' favourite charity.
Protecting sight and fighting for disability rights, they work to eliminate avoidable blindness and promote the rights of people with disabilities in more than 30 countries worldwide. Throughout the coronavirus pandemic they have been; supporting children’s learning from a distance, getting parents involved as educators, providing hygiene kits and personal protective equipment (PPE), helping teachers to adapt to teaching at a distance, working with local groups and government to build connections and increase the support and adapting trachoma treatment distribution in spite of COVID-19.
And if we can raise enough for two...
The OSO Arts Centre, Barnes - in recognition of their stellar efforts during the first UK national lockdown.
First, they acted as a collection point for donations of food that was then distributed in collaboration with the food bank at the Castelnau Community Centre. Second, the Cafe team reorganised in order to source, cook and prepare meals for those local residents who were unable to provide for themselves. By the end of May, they were supplying 1,000 meals a week.
Thank you.
