Aim

The Battersea Jazz Festival is a free community event featuring London's jazz scene, as well as raising money for local charities.

The Battersea Jazz Festival will be returning in Summer 2023 for its second run, after a very successful inaugural event in July 2022. All money raised from this crowdfunder will go directly into funding this free community event once again.

Last year, performances took place from the 15th-17th July at the Prince Albert pub, in Battersea Square for an afternoon, at St Mary's Church for a world premiere of a "jazz mass" composed especially for the festival, followed by a cabaret performance, and at the Magic Garden. Turnout was strong for all events, and the festival was well-received by local residents and local businesses alike, as well as bringing large groups of people to Battersea. Every event was completely free for all audience members, and the festival also raised £1162.20 for the Battersea Summer Scheme charity, thanks to the generosity of our audience members.

This year, the festival will be taking place from early July until the 6th August, at a much wider ranger of venues. The festival will stretch across much of Battersea's community, from the river, up to Clapham Junction and Lavender Hill, through to Nine Elms, and many other places in between. Dates are already in the calendar for the 6th, 13th, 16th, and 21st July, as well as the 6th August, with many more still to come. Do visit our Instagram page @batterseajazzfestival or batterseajazzfestival.co.uk for more information and announcements about events.

In 2022, your incredible support helped raise £2,651 to help make the festival happen. As the festival will once again be completely free for all audiences, and is expanding to feature even more music, we will rely on external funding to make the event happen, which includes your own generosity. Whatever amount is raised from this page will go to the festival, and therefore any money that you donate will go towards paying the musicians at a fair rate, venue hire, publicity and travel costs, and the funding of potential outreach projects connected to the festival.

The following rewards are available for those who donate:

—Everyone who donates will receive an email with the full festival programme before it is announced to the public

—Some of this year’s events have limited capacity and will require reserved seating. Anyone who donates £25 or more will have the opportunity to reserve seats at these events before anyone else.

—If you donate £50 or more, you will receive a personalised thank you video from festival founder and director, Hugo Jennings

—If you wish to donate £100 or more, Hugo will send you a video of him playing and singing a song for you!

After the fantastic success of last year, it will be very exciting to bring yet more world-class jazz to Battersea, and therefore any donations of any amount are welcome to help bring the 2023 Battersea Jazz Festival to life!
