At Scouts we encourage our young members to find ways through difficult challenges. We completed 16 online scout meetings during the lockdown and are now turning our skills to how to socially distance at our annual bonfire night fundraiser.
Community is everything.
We are gutted not to be able to run an event where the community can meet and mingle - but we simply can not do so in our usual way.
We think we have the answer and you can help make this happen completely risk-free.
Fireworks at your Fence
On Saturday 7th November at 7 pm we will put on the biggest fireworks display the village has ever seen. If you live in Batheaston/its environs, it should be visible from your own house. You provide the refreshments, look out of the window or stand in your own garden, and we'll put on an amazing firework display for you.
A professional display is much safer than letting off fireworks in your own garden and much kinder to your neighbours and their pets. If you are thinking of buying fireworks this year, please consider donating that money towards this professional display. Don't forget that gift aid will add 25% more too!
Donate completely Risk-Free
We pay for the fireworks at the annual bonfire and firework night with sponsorship and the entry tickets. With no ticket sales this year we need another way to pay for the fireworks.
We need to raise a minimum level of £3000 to put on a display - but we won't stop there, the more we raise the bigger the display and the more money will go to helping the 23rd Bath Scout Group.
If we do not hit our target by the 1st November, all donations, supporter and sponsorship fees will automatically be refunded and there will be no display this year.
A massive thanks to our regular local professional firework company (Northern Lights). They are very excited by our plan, they have been hit hard with the COVID drop in business, but have agreed to waiver their cancellation fee if we do not get enough support.
A great community event that also helps the Scouts.
15% of your donation will go to 23rd Bath Scout Group up to our £3,000 target - anything above this target the contribution will increase to 50%. So as we get above the target there's a bigger display and the scouts get a higher donation.
Excited By this plan? How do we make it happen?
Make a donation: We understand that everyone's finances are different this year, with some areas of the economy doing well and others suffering badly. That's why there is no fixed ticket price - simply donate what you can afford. As a guide, our usual family gate price is £15.
Tell your friends: Share this page and our social media posts. This would be a great help for the event and we thank you in advance for supporting by sharing.
Local Business Supporter: Support the event for £50 - this will get your name and logo and a do-follow link on the 23rdbathscouts.org website. This will be a permanent page that we use to show how resilient we teach our scouts to be. This will therefore give some Google love long after the event as well as local love for your support.
Local Business Sponsor: Sponsor the event for £500 - this will get your name on the printed flyers and posters that we will distribute in the last week of the campaign and give you a link on the home page 23rdbathscouts.org as well as the other benefits of being a Supporter. (only two left)
VIP Fireworks Starter: Be the person who presses the button and starts the fireworks - live streamed via our Facebook page (if we can get the bandwidth to do this).
Have fun, and help 23rd Bath Scout Group through COVID

Important Stuff:
- If we raise enough money we will put on a display. If however, for reasons beyond our control (e.g. wind, COVID restrictions, site security), we are not able to proceed on Nov 7th 2020 - we will re-arrange for the next available, allowable, opportunity. A new date will be published and advertised at least 5 days in advance of any re-arranged display.
- Donating does not give you a ticket to an event. No-one will be able to be at the event itself as there is no event to attend.
- Everyone must follow the latest government guidance at all times. DO NOT MEET IN PUBLIC PLACES to view this display.
- The firework firing location will be kept secret until the day but we will be posting a drone image of where they will explode (approximately 60m above where they launch from) and we will fire one firework at 6.30 and one at 6.45 so you can adjust your viewing location.
