All additional funds above £35,000 will go towards the Players Pledge for the 2020/21 season.
Bath City FC has been on a roll for the past few years since becoming a community-owned club. Each season has seen bigger crowds and higher finishes in the league – and this year promised to be the best yet with promotion to the National League – just one step below the Football League - very much on the cards.
Covid-19 brought all this to a halt with all football suspended from 16th March and the possibility of the season being wiped out.
However, now there’s a new chance to finish the job. Bath City are now lined up to take part in up to three play-off matches starting on 18th July that could see the promotion dream become a reality. Three wins, starting with a home match at Twerton Park, and The Romans could be in the National League. With Jerry Gill and the team’s skilful and exciting brand of football on the pitch and our ever-increasing crowds and commercial relationships off it, we’re confident we’d be ready to thrive in the higher division.
But competing will come at a cost that the Club could never have budgeted for. We have to test all players and backroom staff for Covid-19 a minimum of four times and invest in specialist PPE equipment. We have to undertake deeper cleaning and pay for travel to matches home and away. And we need to bring players and coaches back off furlough in order to work for the Club.
To get up and running and competing in the first play-off will cost around £18,000 and it would cost a further £17,000 to get us through the semi-final and to play in the final*. A total of £35,000 to play in matches that are all behind closed doors with no paying spectators, no bar revenue and no sponsorship.
UPDATE - thanks to the immense generosity of our fans, local well-wishers and football supporters everywhere, we have reached our initial target of £35,000 and will be donating 1,750 match tickets to NHS heroes. Now we're pushing on to a stretch target of £50,000 to help prepare the club for next season. PLUS every £20 donated over £35,000 will now generate a free ticket for Carers, Health Visitors and Care Home Workers. Please help our club and your heroes.
We’re asking our loyal fans and friends across the city and beyond to help this superb Bath City team compete for promotion. Become a Bath City Hero by pledging your donation to get our players out on the pitch and playing for promotion.
And we’ll give you rewards to thank you for supporting the team, starting with the chance to watch a live stream of the match**; to having your own personalised flag displayed on the barriers at Twerton Park in the first match – and beyond if possible; to getting your own personalised thank you from Jerry Gill or Assistant Manager Jim Rollo and a match day reception; to sponsoring a player and keeping their unique play-off shirt.
But we know everyone's situation is different, so if the Reward levels aren't for you at the moment, please donate whatever you can afford. Every penny counts and will be appreciated just as much - you can even send cheques to the Club if you or people you know prefer (address below). And, we'll have free internet radio match commentary, so everyone can be part of the occasion.
Of course we’re all indebted to the real heroes of the NHS for getting us this far through the pandemic. And Bath City would like to take this chance to show our gratitude. Our match day kit will now bear the NHS logo throughout the play-offs and, for every £20 we raise, we’ll give a free ticket to NHS workers in next season’s matches. That’s up to 1750 tickets for NHS Heroes.
So please be a Bath City Hero and help us compete for promotion and to show our thanks to the NHS.

* If we don’t manage to progress to the semi-final or final, all un-used funds will be deposited in the Player Pledge fund, a special account ring-fenced to support the playing budget in the 2020-21 season.
** Subject to National League approval. If for any reason this is not possible, we'll broadcast as much and as near-live as possible.
