Undiscovered 5k walks around Bath

The Bath 5k Map will be a printed map and accompanying website of undiscovered 5k walks in and around Bath, UK.

Annie has mapped over 50 x 5k walks around Bath.  Each walk is circular and discovers the city, hills, valleys, and rivers. It is without doubt that the single most important factor to our wellbeing is nature and the outdoors.

5k is a wonderful distance for walking with friends and family, or enough time to have thinking space for yourself.

The map

We are designing an original beautifully illustrated map to showcase our walks, giving an overview of the city and everything you need to know to follow the first 20 5k routes.  Purchasing the map will enable you to activate a 1-year annual subscription to our website, with instant access to the full details of the first 20 x 5k walks and to a new monthly walk for 12 months.

100% of profits from the sale of each map will be in aid of our two charity partners, Mentoring Plus and Off the Record supporting the mental health of our young people in Bath.

Help us launch our first 20 walks!

Annie's story

Annie’s inspiration came on New Years Day 2022 whilst exploring a new walk with the family, and discussing new year's resolutions, many of which were about trying new things and keeping fit! The 5k walk idea was born, which rapidly led to mapping a different 5k for every week during 2022.

The purpose of the project was to deeply explore the hills, valleys and city of Bath, and to find ways in which to share this with others who are living in or visiting the city.

Annie has has continued to map over 50 x 5k circular walks in and around the City of Bath.  All the walks have easy parking, can be walked with dogs, and many are marked with pubs, river swimming spots and heritage highlights of our beautiful city.

Early in 2023, tragically Annie's nephew took his own life age 24.  The project has since taken on a new direction of championing wellbeing and mental health. Annie's focus has been on 2 charities in particular based in Bath supporting the mental health of our young people, in memory of Eddie.

The initiative

Isn't it amazing that so often we do the same walks again and again, particularly if we are out regularly walking our dogs! We have put together the first 20 undiscovered walks around Bath to improve your repertoire of walks.

Being in the outdoors is fundamental to our overall health and wellness, and walking with others a wonderful social activity. We recommend you discover these walks with friends, all the practical information you need is included.

We are designing an original beautifully illustrated map with local artist Ellie Shipman to accompany a website, giving an overview of the city and everything you need to know to follow each 5k route.

Purchasing the map will give you a one-year annual subscription to the walks. Month by month we will release more undiscovered walks around Bath and even further afield to make sure you always have somewhere new to walk.

Buying the map will give you access to the website and everything you need to know.

Our fundraising

Our walks are not only good for your well being, 100% of profits from the sale of each map will be in aid of our two charity partners, Mentoring Plus and Off the Record supporting the mental health of our young people in Bath.

We are fundraising to get the project off the ground and go live with our first 20 walks!

Off the Record

Off the Record Bath and North East Somerset (OTR) improves the emotional health and wellbeing of young people. We want every young person in Bath and North East Somerset and beyond to be emotionally healthy, confident and empowered in themselves.

We provide a range of free services for anyone aged 10-25 living, working or studying in Bath and North East Somerset, including counselling, listening support, youth participation, advocacy, support for care leavers and a LGBTQ+ focused youth group.

Listening Support is a free, confidential  20-minute session with a trained listening support worker (LSW) that gives a young person a safe space to be heard, and work in a solution-focused way to identify the best way forward for them.  Our LSW's tailor each session to the needs of the young person, who come to us with issues such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, abuse, and bereavement. Where more complex mental health concerns are uncovered, the young person will be offered six counselling sessions, delivered by our professional counsellors.
