Barrow Cricket Club is aiming to raise £70,000 to fund a new net facility.
Barrow Cricket Club is a community cricket club on the outskirts of Chester. Barrow aims to offer a warm and inclusive environment for people of all ages, genders and beliefs to enjoy playing cricket.
Over the last 8 years the club has seen exponential growth with the junior section going from 25 to 150 children and the new women's and girls section thriving. This has placed significant pressure on the club's facilities with the current net practice facilities which have been in place for over 20 years now tired and too small to cope with the significant extra demand placed on them from the club's growth. To fix this and ensure Barrow remains a great place to enjoy learning and playing cricket we want to build a new 3 lane net facility to replace the existing 2 lanes. This will allow all our members from juniors, women's and men's teams to have a fantastic practice facility which will allow the club to continue to remain a fantastic resource for the local community.
The money raised from crowd funding together with funds raised, from grants, sponsorship and events will go towards the net project. In total £70,000 has been budgeted for the project.
The club offers an important outlet to children and adults of all ages to enjoy team sport in a fun and safe environment. The club is at the heart of the local community with over 150 junior members and their parents as well as 50 senior members using the club on a regular basis. Additionally the club issued regularly by the Cheshire Disabled Cricket Team and hosts a number of community social events.
