To leaflet every household in four London constituencies. Help us spread the Green message to 350,000 voters in our largest ever campaign!
Our story so far
This year, the Green Party achieved its best ever election results and made record gains on local authorities. In addition to our army of Green councillors, Greens serve in the House of Commons, the House of Lords and the European, Irish and Scottish parliaments. Here in London, we have a wonderful record at the mayoral and assembly elections too. On 2 May 2024 we won 3 seats, once again with an increased share of the vote.
Elected Greens have already made a difference.
With energy, commitment and hands-on experience, they've worked hard to tackle a big rise in homelessness, cut carbon emissions, combat dirty air and get a climate emergency declared by local governments and universities across the UK, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Gibraltar This is a major leap forward; the lack of cross-party political commitment had hampered progress. Elected Greens have won respect across the political spectrum.
Our local membership continues to grow
Young people are looking for an alternative to austerity politics and the chaos of Brexit. Affordable social housing, green jobs and apprenticeships, cuts to carbon emissions and protection of waterways, parks and green spaces are high on our agenda. Greens tackle the inconvenient truths and offer solutions, not sticking plasters. With your help, our positive message will reach a wider audience.
Four brilliant Green candidates
We have four brilliant local candidates who want to stand for Parliament in the general election; Simon Anthony (Barking), Kim Arrowsmith (Dagenham & Rainham p.c.), Melanie Collins (Hornchurch & Upminster p,c.) and David Hughes (Romford).
Everyone who has registered to vote in our two London boroughs will have the chance to vote G r e e n on Thursday 4th July 2024. That said, we need to raise at least £1,000 to make sure an election leaflet is delivered to every household in our four constituencies.
Funding
Members, supporters and action groups we've helped know that volunteers run our local Green campaigns and seldom ask for financial help. However, the cost of designing and printing thousands of leaflets now, so soon after the mayoral and assembly elections, will leave us with a short-fall, so please consider making a small contribution towards our printing bill.
Fairness and equality don't seem to exist within our electoral system at present. We don't have corporate funding like some political parties and we refuse to accept money from unethical sources. Most of our local funding comes from membership and individual donations like yours, so please chip in whatever you can spare, so that we can be an even stronger voice in Barking, Dagenham and Havering.
The pandemic and lockdowns have changed the way we campaign.
It means we need to invest in new campaign tactics to make sure residents in Barking & Dagenham and in Havering hear from us in new ways. We could use direct mail, social media and the telephone to reach a wider audience. It costs more, but it works.
Thanks for taking the time to look at our project and thank you for whatever support you can give to our campaign. Every little helps. Your contribution is much appreciated.
P.S. Because we're a political party
We're required to run checks on donations of £500 or more. For the same reason, we cannot accept anonymous donations of £500 and above.
Your details will appear in our election returns if your donation exceeds £500.
