We urgently need to resurface our existing 2 courts to provide a better playing surface for our members and local community

On the 10th April 2024 we'd raised £9,110 with 76 supporters in 42 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We would look to obtain planning permission to replace our 70 year old wooden clubhouse.
Bardsey Tennis Club is a friendly village club established in 1955 with the purpose of encouraging participation in tennis for the community of Bardsey and surrounding villages, fostering health, wellbeing, and a sense of togetherness amongst its members. The Club is a non-profit sports club run by its members who volunteer in all aspects of running the club.
The age membership of the club runs from 4+ to over 80. We welcome new members of any standard along with offering a range of coaching options.
We run regular friendly social tennis sessions every week where members of any age are welcome helping members stay fit and active. For the more competitive we run various tennis teams that compete in local leagues. We have also established links with several other local tennis clubs to encourage cross participation with their members for our social sessions.
We provide free PE lessons for Bardsey Primary School, sessions for local beaver and brownie groups and tennis activities for family drop-in days for members and non-members. Weekly coaching sessions are run for both members and non-members and offers inclusive sessions for disabled players. Open LTA Team Challenge tournaments are run throughout the year where other clubs are invited to support the LTA Compete initiative of providing easy and fun match play to juniors.
Coaching image
Our courts are now in dire need of a full resurface having suffered badly in the last few years with moss and significant cracking resulting in the courts been hazardous to play on particularly after periods of bad weather.
In addition to the resurfacing we are also looking at the upgrade or replacement of the 70 year old wooden clubhouse.
We have been applying for grants and saving membership subscriptions for some time towards these improvements but since Covid materials costs have increased significantly resulting in the need for the Club to look at various ways of raising funds.
These improvements are essential to provide the club with a great facility both for existing and future members as well as continuing with and expanding its coaching opportunities for both its senior and junior sections as well as offering opportunities for people with disabilities.
This project will ensure that the courts are safe to play on as well as assist in our members continued health and wellbeing. The replacement of the clubhouse to a modern facility will also help the tennis club promote itself to potential new members and visiting teams in providing a safe facility in pleasant surroundings.
How we’ll spend the money raised
We are raising funds for the resurfacing of the 2 all weather tennis courts so that the resurfaced courts will be restored to how they looked when we last resurfaced them. Any additional funds raised will be put towards the upgrade or replacement of our existing 70 year old wooden clubhouse and facilities.
Community impact
Bardsey Tennis Club is an important part of the community having members between 4+ and over 80. The Club offers Bardsey Primary School and local beaver/brownie groups free use of the facilities and coaching, to promote health and wellbeing in the local area.
We also have links to other tennis clubs to encourage cross participation across clubs in the area.
Your support will directly impact the community by improving facilities and promoting accessibility to tennis.
Through our Crowfunding campaign we are also hoping to attract new members who may not be aware of our friendly tennis club.
