Aim
A series of workshops for people with a learning disability to make placards and banners for a demonstration and exhibition in September.
What we are doing
We are fundraising to run a series of creative workshops for people with a learning disability over the summer.
What we will make
Workshop attendees will produce a set of banners and placards which make statements about the things that matter to people a learning disability; reflect on the social history of learning disability, and celebrate Learning Disability Pride.
We will work with professional artists who specialise in different artforms, such as print-making or embroidery, so that people taking part can experiment with different techniques and learn a range of new skills.

Showing our work
All the work produced will be shared with the public via a triumphal march and art exhibition in Leeds, as part of a wider series of events to celebrate Pyramid's 30th anniversary of supporting artists with a learning disability.
How we will spend the money
The money raised will go towards the costs of paying the freelance artists who run the workshops; arts materials; supporting people with a learning disability to be able to attend the workshops and march, covering volunteer expenses, and costs relating to the exhibition. (Any left-over money would be allocated to our designated building fund and support our ambitious five year plan to create a new, inclusive contemporary arts space for the North.)

Why us?
Pyramid’s mission is to invest in people with a learning disability through the discovery, development and disruption of the arts.
We share the artwork our members create, presenting it with professionalism and respect in the city’s biggest and best cultural venues and events. Some of our members have big ambitions and we support them to become professional artists. Other members mostly benefit from the social elements of being in a Pyramid group, and our way of working enables them to socialise, to develop skills and confidence, and improves personal well-being.
