Sport Northern Ireland Project Re-Boot: Activate has provided £5,000 of match funding
We want our Mini & Youth Sections to grow and prosper. This project will allow us to give all our young players the support they need.
Our Club
Our Club was formed in 1885 but like all clubs, we have been hit hard by COVID, with a wider drop in membership, volunteers, and income.
Despite these challenges, our Mini & Youth sections are thriving, with record membership numbers and the introduction of a Youth (age 11 to 18) Girls setup for the first time this season, and the revival of our Under 18 Boys side. As a result of this growth we now offer rugby to over 270 boys and girls aged 4 to 18 with new players joining each week.
Why is this important?
Many of us ha
ve experienced first-hand the benefits to young people of being part of a rugby club, their development on and off the field, the benefit to their health and mental well being, and the character and values we seek to instill through our game. We never want to be a position where we are turning away young players, but increased numbers increases pressures on our facilities and playing surfaces, it means we need to recruit and train more coaches and managers, pay for more coaches courses, and that we need more kit and equipment. At the same time we are also determined to keep our membership fees as low as possible, to make our Club and the opportunities we believe it offers affordable and available to all.
Our season runs through to early May, and we will spend the next 7 months continuing to build on our progress and growth and striving to fully support these young boys and girls.
Your support will enable us to:
