Aim

To supply the school with books, pens, paper and desks as well as buckets and towels for basic sanitation, and install solar panelling.

The Banana Islands are situated a few miles off the south west coast of Sierra Leone. There is one school on the island in Dublin, the largest of the three islands. The school comprises of one classroom and there are 32 children enrolled. They study a variety of subjects including English, Maths, Science, Social Studies and Reading. Currently there are very limited resources for the school - just a white board and benches. We aim to provide the school with some more suitable furniture and supply them with proper text books, exercise books, pens, pencils and stationery. The classroom is in a relatively poor state of repair so we would also like to paint the classroom. The island has no power so we are going to install solar panels to provide lighting in the classroom. Not only will this help the students directly but also the community; having a lit space will enable evening classes to also take place.

I will ship all the resources then in April I will visit the school once again for a few days to deliver them and help install the solar panels.

Thank you in advance for your donations.
