Aim

To grow our Bake for the Soul community by kitting out our own premises

In the Beginning.

Hi, I'm Debbie and I am the creator and owner of Bake for the Soul.  I am a qualified science teacher but always had dreams of working with food. I have always been a keen baker from a very early age and have a real passion for what I do. When I decided to start the business and retrain as a pastry chef, I wanted to specialise in baking for everyone.

I feel cake is good for the soul but when seeing the difficulties people with intolerance have, I wanted to change that. Both my sister (who is vegan) and Auntie are coeliac, and for them trying to find a decent treat (other than a single choice of brownie!) is nowhere near as easy as it should be ! From this Bake for the Soul was born.

“Bought some lovely, tasty cakes from this lovely couple today at their stall in Manor Walks, Cramlington. Mine were especially delicious as they were both vegan and gluten free ... amazing!! Can't wait to try out more”

Stuart K

"We just wanted a simple traditional fruit wedding cake but oh my - it was far from ordinary. Wow - ‘delicious’ hardly seems adequate. It was out of this world. And Debbie has just been so great to deal with. Can’t recommend highly enough."

Where We Are Now.

Over the past 2 years I have built up the business from my specialised home kitchen and selling at local markets. It has been great to have a huge selection loved by all.

I feel very humbled that we have become well known for both our standard ranges and free from products. It is fantastic to see so many returning customers every week.

We have outgrown the little kitchen and I would love to be able to kit out my own premises which would give us opportunity to have larger ovens, fridges and a serving area.

“I bought some GF creme egg brownies & GF creme egg scotch egg. Simply the BEST brownie I have tasted in my life... especially as I am GF! The scotch eggs are also to die for! Highly recommend”

“Bake for the soul made a cake for my mums 60th. Lemon cake with white chocolate buttercream was totally amazing. My mum loved it. Gorgeously decorated, it was a fantastic centre piece. All dealings with Debbie were incredibly helpful and professional, I can’t recommend using this company enough. The cake also looked perfect after a 3 hour trip up the motorway!!”

Where We Want to Be.

Our ideal future is to have a base for baking and order preparation. The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting and greeting the customers. We want to intertwine the two. The vision is to have our preparation kitchen with a suitable café space where people can come and collect, have a coffee, a cake and (most importantly) a chat. With a larger kitchen and prep space, we will be able to cook up a wider variety of allergy friendly treats and branch out on our current product lines. As was once wisely put “the world is your lobster Rodney!”

This will also allow us to have space to take on employees and expand our community. As a previous teacher I would love to be able to share my baking knowledge with others. Having more space will give opportunities for classes, work experiences and trainees. This would be a great for the local community offering employability skills.

“Great service and great cakes. The chocolate orange cupcakes for my friends 30th were simply the best cupcakes I have EVER had!”

Sarah A

“Literally the best cakes you will ever buy. Don’t think about it, just get one!! or 5.”

How will your pledges help?

One of the main things we want to ensure is we have the right equipment for the space and we will use the funding to purchase large ovens, fridge and freezers, coffee machine and provide an enjoyable customer serving space.

Thank You

I want to say a massive thanks to all those who have supported us so far, by donating or spreading the message is appreciated. Thank you for pledging and your continued support.
