Helping the local community to keep warm this winter through our poverty initiatives.
We a positive community action group based in Accrington. We were setup to provide opportunities for people to become more physically active, to reduce local poverty and to increase volunteering opportunities as well as increasing the level of education in the area.

We provide a wide range of services for the whole community. We have a long track record of helping to alleviate poverty in the local area. This was particularly seen during covid where our team of volunteers helped to deliver parcels on a daily basis during the pandemic as well as setting up a help at home programme. We helped with the setup of the Hyndburn Community Hub and work together with the local council, police, social services, mental health teams, womens refuges etc to ensure anyone who is struggling is able to get the support they need.

We are crowdfunding to help us to continue to support those experiencing poverty. As the demand has risen for our services, so has costs and alongside local people struggling, we are also having to battle with increased costs. The weekly curry club provides a great opportunity for people to come to a warm space and have a hot meal as well as providing the chance to socialise and relax with other local people.
We will spend the money towards organisational costs associated with the building that is used to run our poverty programme, towards the purchase of food, cutlery to ensure we can continue to run this service.
