We're an award-winning independent publisher of new poetry, and curator of live literature events taking place across the UK. Our books have won or been shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection, the Michael Marks Award, the Laurel and Polari Prizes, featured in the Guardian and the Telegraph and selected as Poetry Book Society Recommendations.
In 2025, we're publishing collections by Desree, Ashley Hickson-Lovence, Agata Maslowska and Antosh Wojcik, and pamphlets by Francis-Xavier Mukiibi, Hasti, Rowan Lyster and Zakariye Abdillahi under imprint Little Betty. We plan to run spring and autumn tours, bringing our authors' work to audiences across the UK in partnership with some of the country's best live literature organisations. We'll also run hybrid poetry workshops in Nottinghamshire and online, supporting writers' development at every stage of their career.
We've been fortunate to be funded by ACE Project Grants since 2018. In December we heard that our recent application (for our 2025 Artistic Programme) was turned down. We've reapplied, but there's a 12-week wait time for a decision, followed by another month or so before the money comes in - IF we are successful.
We're asking for your help now to get us through the next two or three months, while we either wait for good news, or find a way to pivot if we're turned down again. Your generosity will help us to print books, pay our team, pay author royalties, and cover overheads. (The way ACE projects work mean you're prohibited from making a profit. Everything that we earn goes back into the business, which is why we're in trouble now despite having had our best year ever in both sales and critical success.)
We're grateful to be part of an incredible community of writers and artists. We know that for many of you, money is tight. If you can't afford a donation, we'd love you to share this with your friends and followers. Thank you,
Amy & Jake
