On the 26th April 2023 we'd raised £22,427 with 112 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
The club is always looking to improve and evolve so any extra funds raised will be reinvested into improving the facilities, buildings and boundaries as well as investing into the coaching and equipment for our junior cricket section.
Bacup Cricket Club has been a hub for the town for over 150 years, it's a place to go watch or play cricket and hundreds of local residents have played for the club over the many years of it's existence. It's a great focal point and talking point for young and old alike, many generations of Bacupers have played for the club and family is in the heart of what we do.
We pride ourselves in providing an inviting space for visitors to come and enjoy themselves whether that's for a social event, to exercise, watch cricket or just to get some fresh air in a safe environment.
We have a vibrant junior section with age groups of under 15's down to under 9's, 3 senior teams, a ladies teams and a newly formed girls only team.
The whole community, no matter what their background is, are welcome at the club. We are in the process of replacing the kitchen and opening up a new cafe area.
We hope this new addition to the club will enhance the club by not only providing the community with a place to exercise and keep fit but also a venue to meet and talk and keep safe and warm.
Bacup Cricket Club is situated in what is described in the stats as a deprived area so we aim to be accessible to as many of our local residents as possible.
We are a not for profit organisation, run by volunteers who want to give something back to the residents of the town.
The clubhouse facilities, which are available for hire to everyone, play a vital role in raising much needed funds, that are reinvested back into providing excellent cricket facilities.
We need to continue this and want to keep attracting new visitors as well as our regulars to the club. To do this we constantly need to evolve and improve our facilities and want to make accessing the club and cafe area as easy as possible for all visitors to the club, whether they are coming up for a drink, to meet friends or to watch the cricket.
At present anyone wishing to use the wheelchair access needs to enter the club via the function room, which may be being used for a private party, which is not acceptable.
Birmingham 2022’s legacy will live on in the skills, confidence and optimism of the local people who have been positively impacted by the games in their daily lives. We want to carry on our own legacy here at Bacup Cricket Club in that the memories of those that have visited and played in the past and the positive impact that has created lives on in our current players and visitors. Just like Birmingham we want to create a healthier, happier place for everyone to enjoy. Bacup Cricket club is an all inclusive club that strives to provide an opportunity for everyone in the community, the changes we are hoping to make at the club allows us to continue our legacy well into the future and we want everyone from our community to be a part of it.
We aim to make all entrances accessible to everyone by creating a slope to allow wheelchair access to both the main entrance and the beer garden entrance as well as providing handrails for those that need assistance.
In addition to the access points we want to provide a warm, dry, sheltered outside area so those visitors who want a space for themselves and sit out in the fresh air can do so without having to face the elements the Bacup weather has to offer.
