Aim

Our goal is to finish building the Backyard obstacle course so people of all ages and abilities have a place to build confidence, strength,

Who are we?

We’re Backyard — a growing obstacle-course-racing and fitness community built around teamwork, resilience, and pushing limits. Founded and run by me, Phil, Backyard brings people together through outdoor bootcamps, personal coaching, and our dedicated OCR race team. Whether someone is starting their fitness journey or chasing a podium, everyone trains side by side, supports each other, and becomes part of something bigger.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We’re raising funds to help complete and develop our obstacle course, giving our team and wider community a dedicated place to train safely and confidently.

Right now, we’re operating with limited equipment and unfinished sections of the course. With your support, we can finish key obstacles, improve safety, and expand what we can offer to both newcomers and athletes preparing for major OCR events.

This investment will help us grow the sport locally, offer more inclusive training, and create a facility the whole community can use.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Every donation goes directly into building and improving the course. Our planned breakdown:

  • £4000 – Timber, fixings, and materials to finish priority obstacles (walls, rigs, carries, technical elements)

  • £2000 – Groundwork improvements for safety (surfacing, stability, drainage)

  • £3000 – Additional training equipment for bootcamps and 1-to-1 sessions

We’ll keep supporters updated as key milestones are completed so you can see exactly how your contribution is making an impact.

Community impact

Backyard isn’t just a fitness group — it’s a support network. We bring people together of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, giving them a place to train, connect, and build confidence.

Our bootcamps help local residents stay active. Our race team represents the area at national and international events. And our course creates opportunities for young people, parents, and beginners to try something new in a safe, friendly environment.

By funding this project, you’re investing in physical health, mental wellbeing, teamwork, and a sense of belonging that reaches far beyond sport.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help bring this project to life:

Make a pledge. Every contribution — big or small — builds momentum and gets us closer to completing the course.

Spread the word. Share our campaign with friends, family, and on social media. The more people who see it, the stronger our community becomes.

Offer rewards. If you’re a local business, you can support us by donating items, services, or experiences that we can offer as rewards — and we’ll make sure you get recognition.

Fundraise for us. Want to run your own challenge or sponsored event? Click “contact project” to let us know and we’ll get you set up in minutes.
