Call to action!

The cost of living has affected us all and charities are not exempt from this.  Rising costs have threatened the future of our much loved annual Music Festival that celebrates the life of the legendary Bon Scott 'Bonfest'.  Recently we have had discussions with our local community and held town meetings and discussions with partners.  The response has been very supportive with many declaring an interest in supporting the charity and the festival financially.  We have created this crowdfunder to give everyone that wants to support us the opportunity to do so - as well as to seek new support from new supporters.

Funds raised here will both support DD8 Music's activities with our local young people as well as look to help secure the future of Bonfest for years to come.

What is Bonfest?

Celebrates the life and work of Bon Scott (b.1946 d.1980);

The biggest Bon Scott/ACDC festival in the world;

Internationally recognised festival;

Started in 2005 with 50 attendees, now attracts 3000 visitors per day from 27 countries;

Relies on nearly 100 volunteers to run;

Offers a pathway for young upcoming local musicians;

Offers an opportunity to showcase Kirriemuir and Angus;

Generates £600-800k for local economy (2019 data);

The biggest fundraiser for DD8 Music.

What is DD8 Music?

DD8 Music was formed in 2005 by a keen group of young musicians in Kirriemuir. The group was initially formed to address the lack of any opportunities for young people to express themselves musically in the town.

DD8 Music became a registered Charity in 2017 (SCO047601)

We are dedicated to promoting involvement in musical activities to people of all ages in Angus

DD8 Music runs:

Weekly Youth groups

Projects aimed at increasing creative development whilst tackling social issues such as Mental Health, social isolation, equality and employability skills

Instrument lessons for all abilities

Sessions designed to develop young people's understanding of music technology

Photography club

DD8 Music has worked with over 200 young people in the past year and is growing into other areas of Angus. Leading sessions in Montrose, Arbroath, Carnoustie, Brechin and Forfar.
