I am aiming to raise the money to cover the cost of baby formula for a Palestinian refugee mother for one year
Last week I met a wonderful family of Palestinians who have managed to escape Gaza into Egypt with the help of Cwtch Pals, a wonderful collective of Welsh mothers who are raising the money to help Palestinian mothers and their families cross the border out from Gaza into safety.
They are a family of 9, with 3 generations including 3 infants, the youngest a 6 month old baby. The husband of one of the mothers (a nurse) is a doctor and has remained in Gaza for now to help, although they hope he can be reunited with him soon.

Although they are now out of Gaza, they now face fresh challenges dealing with the trauma they are still going through, worrying for their family and friends still there. But they are also still struggling to survive. Rent is very expensive (US$300/month) for poor quality, substandard accommodation. The 9 of them have 2 rooms, they have no privacy.
My friend has two infants, her eldest is 3 and her youngest is just 6 months old. She gave birth just two days before their homes were bombed. She developed mastitis and is badly suffering from Post-partum depression on top of PTSD. Due to the bad infection, she is not able to breast feed and so has to rely on baby formula instead.
The baby formula is very expensive, it costs 300LE every 3 days, which is around £50 per month. When you compare this to the cost of their (inflated) rent this is exceedingly high and it is a huge worry for her each day to know if she will be able to afford it.
It is terrifying to think how awful it must be to worry about buying your baby milk. This is the modern world, how can we stand by and watch that happen

I would like to raise the funds to cover the expense of formula milk for the young baby for one year. This comes to approximately £650 (plus a little extra to cover rising costs etc) If any excess is raised it will go towards food and clothing for the children.
Every little helps. Currently the Egyptian pound is very weak, which means even a few quid will go a very long way in Egypt.
£5 will cover the cost of one box of formula.
