Help Us Save Charborough Road School’s Green Playing Field.

Every day, children walk, run or scoot to Charborough Road Primary. For nearly a century, they’ve done so safely, with a playing field beside them that has been more than just grass—it’s been a sanctuary to let off steam, a green lung and a place where imaginations run free.

Now, that field is under threat. South Gloucestershire Council wants to replace it with apartment blocks and two and three storey houses. A busy junction just yards from the school gate. Concrete and traffic fumes where there was once nature. This isn’t just about a patch of land. 

It’s about childhood, community, and the right to breathe clean air and play freely.

Why We Need You

We need to be able to give our community a voice at the decision table. To stand a chance, we need the expertise of a professional planning consultant to represent all our objections with the language that is most effective. Without an expert, it’s David versus Goliath. With them, it’s David with a slingshot.

We’re up against a system that speaks in jargon and loopholes. Planning documents talk about ‘urban infill’ and ‘capital receipts.’  But we know better. We know that once this space is gone, it’s gone forever. 

This Is Our Moment

The application is currently awaiting a decision by the planning officer. He is expected to refer the decision to South Glos Development Management Committee. We believe this moment is imminent. 

What Your Donation Will Do

• Fund a professional planning consultant to represent us at committee at which we will only get five minutes to speak – without expert representation, community voices are often sidelined, even when the case is strong. 
• A planning consultant will focus on ‘strong material considerations’ from local and national planning policies that can powerfully impact the final decision. 
• If for any reason, this fund is not needed for a planning consultant, donations will be refunded.  We are launching the crowdfunder now because we need to be ready for the Development Management Committee meeting.

We’ve all put a huge effort into submitting objections to Planning Application P24/01249/F over the past 18 months. This is the opportunity to influence the final decision and with all of us chipping in we can make sure everyone’s voices are heard.
