Aim
To fix the fisherman's ice machine and improve the harbour's disabled access with new mooring facilities at Axmouth harbour - East Devon
Who are we?
Based in the beautiful Harbour at Axmouth -East Devon, we are a group of small scale day fisherman -the Seaton branch of East Devon Fishermans Association (E.D.F.A)
We number approx 16 -Our livelihoods depend upon landing Crab & Lobster and various round fish to our quayside -when the weather permits - More-so on a daily basis in the summer.
Our long term goals to improve the harbour..
As guardians & leaseholders of the harbour, we have bold plans to improve the mooring facilities for the betterment of the local community and visitors alike, aiming to future-proof the survival of the harbour for generations to come benefiting both the pleasure and commercial sectors & less physically able members of our coastal community.
And then the Ice machine broke..
Our plans for this have been thrown into disarray due to our Ice Machine breaking in one of the hottest summers for a significant time -which in turn will take a big proportion of the funds we have accrued to help complete the mooring works.
The Ice machine is the kingpin in getting our catch fresh to market -without it, our skippers hard earn bounties will perish quickly...
Hence, we need to repair this with an upgrade to start producing ice once again, but in a more efficient, eco-friendly manner.
We need your help!
It will cost approx £ 13,000 to upgrade the Ice machine, and a further £50,000 to bring the 1st phase of the harbour improvements to fruition, £63,000 all in.
