Who are we?
GAINSBOROUGH TOWN TENNIS CLUB attracting people of all ages to play tennis
The tennis club has 3 tarmac courts all year round and 3 grass courts – for summer use only
The surface of the hard courts had become slippery and dangerous to play on, so in the summer of 2025 the club organised a grant for a new surface to be installed which replaced the surfaces of the old courts. What a difference it made!
The club now has an increase in membership – more families, including children and juniors from age 3 upwards; ladies groups; “pay-to-play”; coaching from a professional tennis coach; and schools attending. Tennis in Gainsborough is being played every day time and evening - more than other sports.
With the grass courts costing more and more on maintenance, the tennis club now has a plan to save on maintenance costs and attract funding to replace the grass courts with all weather courts, which will allow tennis on 6 courts to be played all year round.
Chairman, Phil Green, has commented – “it has been great to see so many new families playing tennis and bringing their children to coaching – tennis is certainly being played more and more popular locally”.
Because of the popularity of tennis, the club would also like to attract funding from companies and individuals to assist in the cost of installing the 3 new all weather courts. CAN YOU HELP OUR CROWD FUNDING?

Why are we crowdfunding?
The club can only fulfil the changes required to the courts through corporate and private pledges and funding. The aim is to have 6 all weagther courts which are fully functional all year round, with also the provision to accommodate Pickle Ball tennis too

Community impact
Since the 3 exisitng hard courts were improved in 2025, the club has attracted more members and it clear more courts will be required for tennis to be played all year round. With tennis now being the 2nd most popular sport being played in Gainsborough, the tennis club is now benefiting a wider community for people of all ages to exercise, learn tennis from the coaching available and to also make friends by socialising with family and other players
