Aston Bevington, 15, plays for our Under 16s and is a talented young footballer and rugby player who was tragically recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia on the 10/12/2024. Aston was blue lighted into Noah’s Ark Hospital in Cardiff and has started an intensive chemotherapy regimen there straight away.
He faces a tough battle over the coming weeks and months in order to get better and we do not want him to face this battle alone. Aston was due to finish his GCSE’s this year and was hopeful of realising his sporting dreams of becoming a professional sportsman - having played academy football since the age of 7 for Swansea City. He has been playing football for Pontardawe and hoping to earn a scholarship. His rugby exploits have also earned him a call up into the Ospreys academy having played exceptionally for Porthcawl and Bridgend District this season. He has also supported our younger teams by completing his referee qualification to be able to referee our minis and juniors on a Sunday morning.
This is to raise money for Aston and anything Aston may need in the future to aid his rehabilitation and get him back doing what he loves. As well as the charities who have helped him so far.
Astons family are urgently appealing for young people to register as stem cell volunteers with the Welsh Blood Service ahead of World Cancer Day.
