On the 28th March 2024 we'd raised £10,680 with 42 supporters in 69 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Aston Rowant Cricket club was formed in 1881 and is nearly 150 years old! The club has a rich and proud history and has had plenty to celebrate over the years and is now looking forward to upgrading our facilities over the next few years:
We have:
We have had our second pitch for over 12 years and are now looking to build a changing room facility at the pitch which is predominantly used by the club's development teams with an anticipated build start of Spring 2024. The club has a rapidly expanding junior section and we are hoping to launch a women's softball team in 2024. The club's facilities in general are in desperate need of an upgrade and we are ultimately looking to also replace the main pavilion on pitch 1. We have opted for a phased approach to upgrading the facilities overall starting with providing a pavilion on Pitch 2 as this will benefit the club's junior section and development teams most.
The funds raised here will go towards paying for the pavilion structure. The building facilities include 4 changing rooms, unisex showers and toilets plus an accessible toilet and ramp for disabled users.
We have a target of £25,000 for this part of our fundraising project.
We anticipate the total cost to get this building up and watertight to be in the region of £58,000 and then there will be the additional cost of the facilities on top which equate to approximately £15-30,000 depending on what specifications we decide to go for which of course depends on funding! The club has savings which it will pledge towards the project and has applied for several grants from National Lottery, the ECB and SODC however we will not know the outcome of these applications until March 2024...hence we need your help!
A key outcome of this project is to further increase engagement with the community and encourage more social cohesion. Several pubs have closed in the area over the past decade resulting in no pubs or restaurants within walking distance of Kingston Blount. We would like to continue to develop our relationship with the community and remain a hub for residents to come and socialise and also encourage young families in the area to keep active and play sport.
According to the NHS, rates of probable mental health disorders have increased since 2017; in 6 to 16 year olds from one in nine (11.6%) to one in six (17.4%).
As quoted by Sport England, being physically active can improve mood, decrease the chance of depression and anxiety and lead to a better and more balanced lifestyle.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
We would be so grateful for any donations you are able to make. Thank you for your support.
