To continue to offer a warm and welcoming space for the local community especially for our respected elders.

 New stretch target

Should the Centre be fortunate enough to raise additional funding, we would like to use it towards transporting our local elders to and from the Centre by using suitable transport which can accommodate wheelchair access.

Who are we?

The centre is run by a small team of dedicated friendly volunteers who work hard to ensure everyone who attends the centre, especially the luncheon club are welcomed and feel supported.

Community impact

The Astley Pensioners Centre is accessible to the local Community for socialising and leisure purposes.

Local volunteers provide a weekly luncheon club for our respected elders where a two course meal, refreshments and entertainment is provided in a warm and welcoming environment. As the centre is a not for profit we rely on funding to enable entertainment and days out to be available throughout the year for our luncheon club elders.

Without funding to help with maintaining the building we would not be in a position to offer such valued services within the local community.

Testimonial from a luncheon club attendee:

The best thing Jackie and myself did was to join Astley Pensioners Centre.  I am a wheelchair user and struggle to get out and about and during covid I felt pretty much isolated.  The Centre has enabled me to feel part of the community once again.  Everybody at the Centre is very nice and friendly, and the volunteers do all they can do for you and the food is very good too.

The Centre organises outings and have entertainment each month.  Whilst attending we have made so many friends and have also met some that we last saw when at school.

Each week the volunteers go above and beyond to help you and they are simply the best.

Why are we crowdfunding?

The cost of living crisis has had a real impact on running the Centre, which has included the significant increase in utility charges along with the rising cost of food.

The centre itself isn't well insulated and vital funding is needed to help keep the centre running and available for the local community, especially our elders to continue to access and enjoy the weekly luncheon clubs.

How we'll spend the money raised

To enable the Centre to be available to the local community all year round to enjoy social events, there is a need to invest in insulating the roof which will not only retain heat but will also help us to keep costs of utility bills down.
