To keep our top office open as a 'warm space' for our students from adverse backgrounds
We are Ask The Question CIC, based in the heart of Hebden Bridge. Our aim is to improve the educational outcomes for vulnerable children and young people aged between 8 and 18, who have been affected by adverse childhood experiences and those whose education and confidence has suffered as a result of abuse, neglect or trauma. We have so far worked with over 120 children, over half of which have been in local authority care.

This money will enable us to open our top room at our office in the heart of Hebden Bridge, enabling our students from disadvantaged and adverse backgrounds to access the space. The space would be able to heated, have access to the wifi network and we also have laptops available to be borrowed, enabling our students to do school work in a quiet, safe space.
We would also be able to provide light refreshments, such as drinks and biscuits, and we would also have volunteer-led clubs, such as maths and english help groups for all ages, where the students can work together as a group.

We are crowdfunding as our CIC is entirely run on donations and with the cost of living crisis, prices have risen significantly to heat the room when it's not in use for teaching. We would like to be able to open this top room for our students when it is available, after school and on a Saturday, so that our students have a safe and warm place to come and do homework. We have been able to offer this very successfully in the past, but the current climate unfortunately makes it untenable for us to continue supporting this without the help of our community.
The majority of students we work with don't otherwise have access to quiet, warm or safe spaces to complete work outside of school hours, with some not having access to wifi at home, others living in chaotic or noisy homes, and some not having a warm space.

We will spend the money raised on our utility bills for our top room, as well as some refreshments for our students.
