Aim

Help revitalise our training facilities and provide additional changing for the many girls, women and juniors taking up cricket.

In recent years Ashcombe Park has enjoyed significant growth thanks to the efforts of club members, most notably increasing the size of the Junior Section from around 25 youngsters (aged between 8 and 16) to around 75.

Through the ECB All Stars programme we have attracted approximately 40 children under 8s for their first taste of cricket and, for many, their first experience of any team sport in a club setting.

Women's Cricket

In 2018 we've also fielded our first ladies and girls only sides who have competed in a series of festivals.

We've also run an over-45 team for the first time to encourage new and ex-players to try or return to the sport. Even those not wanting to play competitively have participated in weekly training sessions to improve their fitness.

Supporting schools and other sports

At the same time we have strengthened links with local schools and other sports clubs to encourage them to use our facilities.

As a result of this commitment to the local community, our existing training, storage and changing facilities are no longer fit for purpose and we've embarked on an ambitious project to facilitate new nets and dedicated junior training area alongside the demolition of existing storage sheds to make way for a new garage store and ladies changing room.

Sense of community

The new facilities will help us to attract even more juniors and adults to the club and discover the joys of cricket and  the sense of community and belonging that comes with being part of a thriving sports club. It will also help us to develop the next generation of talented young cricketers and expand participation in the sport.
