Launching ACA to make insurance claims fair, stress-free and human — because no one should face it alone

I’m launching Ascend Claims Assistance (ACA)  a service that helps people navigate insurance claims fairly, clearly, and without stress.

After more than a decade working in the insurance industry, I realised how easily people especially the elderly, vulnerable, or grieving can be left confused and underpaid. One claim I handled changed everything for me.

It was for a 75-year-old man whose wife sadly passed away while on a cruise. His insurer covered some costs but refused to pay for his hotel stay, saying it wasn’t included in the policy. It didn’t feel right. I reviewed the claim, contacted the underwriters, and explained that the policy’s intention was to protect him, not exclude him. They agreed and I was able to authorise an extra $7,000 for him.

When I called to tell him, he broke down in tears. Part grief, part relief  and total disbelief that someone had fought for him.

That moment stayed with me. I thought, how many people just accept “no” because they don’t know they can challenge it?

That’s why I created Ascend Claims Assistance  to stand beside people who feel lost, to make sure their claims are handled fairly, and to bring empathy back into the process.
