Who are we?
Barnoldswick Cricket Club, founded in 1892, situated on the border of the cricketing powerhouses of Lancashire and Yorkshire, is a family-friendly, community club with a successful past and a bright future. Our senior teams play in the North West Cricket League formed in 2023 and we were founder members of the Ribblesdale League in the19th century. Our juniors teams play in the Upper Airedale junior cricket league.
Barnoldswick cricket club is affiliated with 'Barlick' bashers rounders team and Barnoldswick fell runners who regulatory use the ground for practice, to host matches and a as base for running events throughout the year.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We are planning to build a new artificial practice area that will be accessible to all members of the club, seniors, juniors and to make it accessible to disabled cricketers who have been using our facilities for practice sessions for 9 months.
We are hoping to start the work by the start of the 2025 season to ensure the facility is ready for coming season
This facility is desperately needed at the club as, due to the inclement weather, we missed out on 70% of the training sessions in 2024 due to the ground being too wet. This would be negated if we had access to artificial practice surface
How we’ll spend the money raised
We are planning to build 33.00m x 6.00m practice area consisting of batting and bowling end and utilising a “Premier” base system.
This will be available to all Players and members to use to practice both batting and bowling through out the year.
We will use our existing roll on batting cages in order for to make the project more affordable.
Community impact
The project will ensure both senior and junior practices won't be affected by adverse weather, which has caused us cancel sessions throughout the past seasons.
The facility will be used by the 'super 1s' disability cricket team who use our ground for practice through the summer and 'Barlick bashers' rounders team will be able to use the surface if the outfield is too wet.
We plan to use the new facility to help us to create a Women and girls cricket team as well as encouraging players that have been out of the game for a number of year to get back in to cricket.
