Aim

Please help us raise funds to continue placing modern and contemporary Scottish art into health and social care settings.

Please help Scottish charity Art in Healthcare raise funds to continue placing modern and contemporary Scottish art into health and social care settings. We do this because research shows that visual art can make health and social care environments more friendly, welcoming and stimulating. It can help patients to feel more relaxed and less defined by illness, staff feel valued and visitors to feel comforted. 

Overview 

Art in Healthcare is a Scottish charity which places artwork in health and social care settings throughout Scotland, from Ayrshire to Orkney. We have received lots of feedback from patients and staff and here is a flavour of the impact of the artworks: 

"I have regular and stressful hospital appointments and the large, artwork in Outpatients Waiting Area always helps to calm me down whilst waiting to see the consultant". 

"The art meant we could have conversations that weren’t always focused on health, and so allowed us to have some quality time with each other and removed some of the stress at least for short periods of time". 

As we move beyond the pandemic our work is needed more than ever and we are working to ensure that our large collection is well looked after and ready to be installed in health and social care settings as they begin to ‘open up’ again. Our funding comes from a range of sources including the public sector, trusts and foundations and community fundraising. We are asking for your support to help us frame some new additions to the collection and to reframe some older works that need to be updated to comply with health and safety regulations. This work is essential to allow us to continue to make the full collection available to health and social care settings in Scotland.
