Holly (Archie's cousin) is raising money for Archie by auctioning her artwork so Archie's family can buy equipment he needs for his new home
Art for Archie
Holly will be regularly auctioning her artwork via her Mum's Facebook page until she reaches her fundraising target of £500 to help get a specialist bath in Archie's new home.
Archie's Progress told by his Mum & Dad Please view the video.
Archie was diagnosed with a genetic disease called Pompe in November 2011. It is a rare neuromuscular genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle weakness and can also affect breathing and mobility. In people with Pompe disease, there is a defect in a gene that is responsible for making an enzyme called acid alpha-glucosidase (GAA).
Those who suffer with Pompe disease have a short supply or none of these enzymes. Archie therefore has to have ERT (Enzyme replacement Treatment) for the rest of his life – this is done with a bi-weekly transfusion.
Archie is now nearly 10 years old and is doing really well. Archie and his family have recently moved to a new home in Copthorne. Holly would like to raise money to help towards Archie having a specialist bath fitted in his new bathroom, which is not covered by Government funding.
Archie is at his happiest when he is in the water, he uses one of these baths during his overnight stays at the hospice. It brings him so much happiness so Archie's family would love to give him this on a daily basis in the comfort of his own home.
Please help support Holly to reach her target by bidding for her artwork or making a donation to this amazing cause.
Many thanks
Holly
