Project aim

An interactive and creative theatrical experience for children.

About the project

Are We There Yet? is a theatre company dedicated to making exciting, immersive story-telling experiences for children. Directed by Sarah Eastaff, Are We There Yet? encourages the participants’ sense of ownership and believes that live performance is at its most exciting when it is different with every audience. Our work is focused on adventures in unusual spaces, finding fun in the ordinary and embracing everybody’s imagination.

This Is Not an Office will be a site specific piece of theatre tailored for children and families as part of On the Verge Festival, Liverpool in October 2015. The piece will utilise drama, problem solving, interactive games, sound and props to transport children to magical worlds in pursuit of saving fairy-tale creatures from the clutches of a terrifying and terrorising monster. The project will set aims and objectives for young people to achieve within a collaboratively creative environment; the desired result ending in children using core skills such as team-work and problem solving, along with a healthy amount of imagination to input into the journey of their piece - creating a unique production on each performance -moulded by the children themselves. The show will begin in a makeshift room, in a space specifically for adults. The production starts with a drama session to get to know each other and set the scene for the story to come. The tale is told from a hand-made book introducing characters from different worlds. However, there is an unknown monster terrorising characters, walking through their pages and forcing them out of their worlds. Through a series of clues and activities children help return these mystical figures to their rightful pages - banishing the terrible monster. The tale of their adventure is retold to awaiting parents. In addition to the performances, resource packs will be created and corresponding workshops offered to schools.
