Aim
Our city and our party needs fresh leadership to tackle the challenges we face, rebuild after COVID-19 and build a brighter, fairer future.
I am honoured to have shortlisted to be Labour’s candidate to lead the city I love in the mayoral election in May.
Our party and our city need a new generation of leadership to deal with the challenges we face by bringing people together and rebuilding and renewing after COVID-19. Our communities are bursting with talent and ideas. I want to draw on all of that talent and enthusiasm to make Liverpool the strongest, fairest and most inclusive place possible.
But we also need a different style of leadership. One that is optimistic, engaged, inclusive and encourages the talent we have across the Labour and trade union movement. I believe that my energy will bring a fresh new dimension to the job of Mayor.
Rebuilding our economy in the post-pandemic world is a real chance for us to radically reshape our city for the better. I want our recovery to be built on 3 robust foundations: a strong, inclusive education system; the creation of well-paid, skilled jobs in a fair business environment and building good-quality homes in thriving communities.
In doing so, it is vital that we build trust and confidence in our city’s leadership. I believe I am capable of delivering that leadership.
I know better than most the real difference Labour can make. I was brought up in a hard-working family. My mum worked 3 jobs to provide for us. It’s a situation that too many families in Liverpool still face.
Led by me, a strong, competent and caring Labour Council will be a major line of defence against the horrors of Tory cuts.
Liverpool is a proud, hardworking and creative city. I am standing because I believe I can give that leadership and take the city to a new positive chapter in its history.
