We're still collecting donations
On the 17th March 2024 we'd raised £19,506 with 819 supporters in 34 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
The world record breaking, free, multi-arts, family friendly festival is 10!! WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE IT HAPPEN - (NO MINIMUM DONATION!)
by Another Fine Fest in Ulverston, Cumbria, United Kingdom
On the 17th March 2024 we'd raised £19,506 with 819 supporters in 34 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
This is more of a realistic amount that we actually need to host this event but were to afraid to ask! We really need your help more than ever, especially since we failed to receive Arts Council funding this year (which would have been our largest source of funding by far!
We really don't want you, our lovely supporters to shoulder too much of the financial burden but this would really take the pressure off!
We would also be able to pull off something truly special to celebrate our 10th anniversary as well as ensure that everyone gets paid!
We work hard to generate funding from as many different streams as is humanly possible.
This includes merch sales and raffles throughout the year, several grant applications - including the very intensive Arts Council one which was unsuccessful, as well as selling trader pitches and courting sponsorships and advertisements and negotiating with partner venues.
Obviously, none of this funding is guaranteed. (Please message us if you would like to sponsor us!)
Your crowdfunding contributions amount to under half of our total costs, help to unlock funds from grant givers who ask for match funding and enable us to pay everyone a fair wage.
The more we raise via crowdfunding, the more sustainable we become. With the economy in the state that it is in, with spiralling costs and numerous other grassroots events having to be cancelled, we really need your support more than ever!
Every single quid counts and there is no minimum donation. We do of course understand how difficult things so if you are unable to donate - absolutely no worries at all - we willlove you forever if you could simply give our campaign a share.
Big thanks and massive love to each and every one of you that have made this thing, a thing since 2014 - we love you so much and appreciate that we would not be here without you. For that, we are forever infinitely grateful
On 15th and 16th June with your help, Ulverston will once again erupt in a multicoloured feast of world class live music, DJs, circus, street theatre, live street art, window painting, yarnbombing, award winning stand up comedy, spoken word & interactive workshops as well as a cornucopia of various other weird and wonderful activity.
Yes, that’s right, the twice world record breaking Another Fine Fest is back to rock the cobbles with the 10th anniversary installment of our free multi-arts festival where we celebrate till the sun goes down!
RISING COSTS & WORRYING TIMES FOR FESTIVALS
As you can probably imagine, costs have risen right across the board, leading to the cancellation of many grass roots events throughout the country. This is why we need your support more than ever.
Last year - 824 people donated - twice as many as the year before. With your help we are hoping to double these figures once again. For this year's event to go ahead we need a larger number of people donating just a small amount.
We have over 12,000 followers on our socials. If every one of you lovely people donated just £2 we would totally smash our target!

TENS OF THOUSANDS FLOCK TO ULVERSTON TOWN!
Since 2014, AFF has established itself as one of the firm favourites in Ulverston’s festival calendar. It is also one of the most well attended with estimates of up to 20,000 revelers flocking to Ulverston from all over the world for the 2023 installment.
CELEBRATING AN ICON
We are the only event in Ulverston which celebrates Stan Laurel, the world famous comedy icon born in this very town in 1890.
In his honour we create an annual celebration which gives a platform to hundreds of acts upon multiple stages and from the entire spectrum of creative disciplines!
You can check out the kinda shenanigans that we like to get up to right here
World class touring acts rub shoulders with the best of our local and up and coming talent. We often provide performers an opportunity to debut their shows at our event. Ulverston gets to be the first in the world to see new works!
WE WOULD NOT EXIST WITHOUT YOU - WE NEED YOU!
We are a not for profit community group who love this town and want to see amazing things happen on our doorstep. The type of magical activity that you would usually have to travel to the cities to experience. It is your generous donations that help us to "rock the cobbles!"
RESPECTING ART - COS ARTISTS CAN'T PAY THEIR BILLS WITH "EXPOSURE"
We work hard to generate funding from as many different streams as is humanly possible.
This includes merch sales and raffles throughout the year, several grant applications - including the very intensive Arts Council one which was unfortunately unsuccesful and would have been our largest source of funding)
as well as selling trader pitches and courting sponsorships and advertisements.
Obviously, none of this funding is guaranteed. (Please message us if you would like to sponsor us!)
Your crowdfunding contributions equal less than half of our total costs, help to unlock funds from grant givers who ask for match funding and enable us to pay everyone a fair wage.
We did consider a higher target on this crowdfunder as realistically it is needed to safeguard our event, but we simply do not want you, our lovely supporters to shoulder too much of the financial burden of hosting this thing.
(Please pray for our grant successes!)
If we are unsuccessful, we will have to drastically scale down the event - which we really do not want to do for our 10th anniversary celebrations.
QUIDS FOR THE INFRASTRUCTURE
As the festival grows, along with the numbers of festival goers, so must our team of first aiders and security to ensure everyone's safety. As these requirements increase in size, so do our costs!
Your quids help us to afford all those things that go into creating the event, multiple outdoor stages, tech such as amps and speakers, wood for art zones and paint for the artists as well as the boring but absolutely essential stuff such as toilets, insurance & licensing etc..
The vast majority of the people and the companies which we employ are from our area so your money continues to circulate within the local economy.
MULA FOR MUSIC
Your currency allows us to book a multitude of acts representing Rock, Indie, Jazz, Blues, House, Techno, Breakbeats, Hip Hop, Disco, Reggae, Funk, Folk, World, Country, Psychedelic and more late into the night!
POUNDS FOR PAINT
Your coins assist us in bringing Ulverston to life in an explosion of vibrant creativity and paint it several shades of every colour with live street art displays, yarnbombing and window painting on at least 20 shop windows.
These stunning artworks have become tourist attractions in their own right with people travelling from all over the UK to have pictures taken alongside them.
WONGA FOR WORKSHOPS
We are inclusive and fully interactive, offering workshops for everyone to learn. We particularly like to reach out to those who may be suffering a disadvantage in life and offer a safe space to feel a part of something welcoming and positive and ultimately rather special.
Previously we have taught circus skills, poetry and rap, song creation, music production and promotion as well as prop and costume making.
We wish to procure the services of many more professional practitioners in order to educate and uplift the young people from the Furness area and beyond.
CHARITY
As well as having a jolly good time we will also be using our shenanigans as a way to generate much needed funds for local charity. This year we will be collecting for St Mary's Hospice & Ulverston Food Project once again, and with your help we hope to smash all previous figures!
GIVE A LITTLE - GET A LOT
Our 2019 Crowdfunding Campaign generated £6,437 GBP from just 312 generous backers.
In 2022 this increased to £11,952 from 422 of you lovely people.
In 2023 the amount of support we received almost doubled and we were able to raise £17084 from 824 supporters
In 2024 we aren't asking a single person to contribute more than you have done previously - we know all too well how tough things have been financially.
But just imagine if a larger number of people could contribute just a small amount. Just a few quid each from everyone that has ever enjoyed our events and we would not only obliterate our target but safeguard the future of our fest!
To create something truly spectacular we really need your help! Together we can make amazing things happen...
