Aim

Our 12-year-old diesel ambulance has CO2 of 147g/km & no longer fits our Green Ethos. A new PHEV CO2 of 11g/km & we can charge by our solar!

Our Environmental Ethos...

Four years ago, we set out on a mission to dramatically reduce our environmental impact. Since then we have, purchased one full EV ambulance, installed the maximum number of solar panels, along with battery storage, at both our Rehoming Centre and one of our shops. We have also replaced all our lighting with LED and installed two Air Source Heat Pumps. Thanks in small part to AVIVA for their support for our Crowdfunding campaigns!

However, our 12-year-old, 100,000-mile diesel ambulance / collection vehicle no longer aligns with our sustainability goals. We aim to replace it with a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Our current vehicle emits 147 g/km of CO₂, whereas the PHEV we have in mind produces just 11 g/km—an enormous reduction. Additionally, we will be able to use the excess energy generated by our solar panels to charge it, further reducing both our carbon footprint and operational costs. It is also becoming expensive to maintain.

Elsie in the picture and the video (please watch the video) is a perfect example of putting our ambulances to good use... came into us as a stray on December 12th in terrible condition and in her first two weeks had three trips to our vet! She is the sweetest dog, but had such a matted coat. We will keep you posted on her journey during this campaign - thank you for donating.

Our branch is an independent charity, meaning we are entirely self-funded. Every single penny we spend must be raised through our own efforts!

This year, our Rehoming Centre, located just outside King’s Lynn, has been operating at full capacity, with rehoming figures reaching record-breaking levels. This is truly remarkable, especially in light of national trends showing a significant decline in pet rehoming rates. As of this publication, we have successfully rehomed over 500 animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, and more.

Our organisation currently relies on two vehicles: our primary animal ambulance and a secondary vehicle. This secondary vehicle plays a crucial role in not only transporting animals to and from the vet, but also assisting with the trapping of feral cats and collecting the generous donations from the kind-hearted people of West Norfolk, which then get delivered to our shops.
