Àníké TLC: Aromal Self Care Experience for Women

To raise funds to launch our debut collection of scented candle and lifestyle brand. To encourage busy women to rest and practise self care.

Hi! I'm Bisoye Adedayo, the founder of Àníké TLC and this is more than a self care business for me. I enjoy helping women set out time to rest, renew, and rid themselves the guilt of enjoying their lives.

I understand the challenges particular to women with ambition, knowing that self care is important but working so hard towards their vision that they have no time for themselves. Permit me to tell you a short story.

During one of the most challenging seasons of my life, I had just relocated to London with high hopes of starting a career in the UX industry.

I wanted to solve people’s problems and enhance their experiences so I took several courses and worked on building my portfolio but I forgot to pace myself. I desperately wanted to be a UX Designer that I didn’t pay attention to the signs that my body and my mind were giving me to slow down.

Unfortunately, this led to exhaustion and feeling overwhelmed. In fact, I missed a UX workshop that I had paid quite a lot for because I fell ill and I couldn’t attend. It then dawned on me that my lack of self care was costing me my dreams.

I started to look inwards and began to incorporate self care practices such as pacing myself and embracing genuine rest. I have since been able to heal, reset and renew the passion to achieve my dreams. The End :)

I believe it’s possible for women to achieve their dreams but not at the expense of themselves. This is why I created a platform that supports ambitious women on their self care journey.

The word “Àníké” in Yoruba language, a tribe in Nigeria, means “to have and to be greatly cherished, valued and pampered”. This is what we want every woman to feel and our debut collection of scent candles have been designed to do just that.

In the last five months, Àníké TLC has consistently provided women with resources and content on self-care, rest, sleep, self-awareness and mental health on our social media platform and the responses have been encouraging.

We have been able to spark real conversations about issues peculiar to women’s journey to rest, self-discovery and self-care.  See some excerpts below: 

Our first product is the Àníké TLC scented candle collection. Over the last seven months, we have undergone the intense process of handcrafting and testing vegan wax scented candles that are soothing, uplifting, eco-friendly, cruelty-free, phthalate-free and compliant with International Fragrance Association (IFRA) regulations.

Our collection of scented candles are delicately crafted to inspire self care and make the experience memorable. This debut collection includes the following scent blends:

Zest for Life Scented Candle is a sweet blend of lemongrass essential oil, lemon verbena, a hint of vanilla beautifully balanced with a base note of cedarwood. It’s an uplifting and warm fragrance that inspires optimism. 

Lay Your Head Scented Candle features calming lavender blended with spicy tonka bean and several citrus notes. It has a soothing effect and is able to gently lull you to sleep. It’s also great for those cosy night indoors.

Calm Reflections Scented Candle is reminiscent of a quiet walk you take along the beach barefoot and it’s truly refreshing. It’s a blend of wood sage, sea salt and fir needle. It’s that perfect scent for a quiet moment or meditation.

Never Lost Scented Candle balances the bold scent of lychee with the subtle aroma of black tea. The result is a scent that evokes calmness and assures you that you’re never alone even in the face of adversity.

Our first goal to raise £3,500 will help us to:

• Buy raw materials (vegan wax, fragrance oils, vessels etc) and eco-friendly  packaging 
• Pay for props and outsource professional product shoot service.
• Pay for advertising (Instagram and Facebook)
• Pay for one year subscription on Shopify platform.
