Ānene was founded to deliver design led, quality clothing. The garments are created in an ethical and sustainable manner, with the aim to empower the women wearing these clothes to feel like the best version of themselves. Each sale gives the customer an additional feel good factor with 10% of profit going back into mental health charities.
Ānene means to breathe gently and embodies my desire as a brand owner to show reverence and respect for people, natural resources and the environment.
Ānene launched at the end of September of this year with a limited edition collection of resort wear created from used sari's with love in Richmond-Upon-Thames.

I am an artist, designer and maker with 16 years marketing experience. With two children now settled in school I have decided to follow my passion creating beautiful garments and accessories. Each item is developed with consideration for the environment, contributes to social good, while aiming to help people feel amazing.
The link to mental health comes from growing up with a mother who suffered mental health issues all of her adult life. Growing up in the 1980s support for, and understanding of these issues was rare. The stigmas associated with the concept of mental health, was attached to not only the patient, but also their families. This is why Ānene is giving back and making plans to have an even bigger positive, social impact.
For Ānene to launch its capsule collection at its launch party on 20th March 2020 the business needs to invest in professional services including pattern cutters, a professional sewing machine, materials and haberdashery.
I have been fortunate enough to be accepted on to the #backherbusiness #sidehustlecompetition sponsored by NatWest and powered by Crowdfunder UK. They will pledge my first £50 when I receive £200 in pledges from 5 supporters. They will pledge a further £500 when I receive £500 in pledges from a further 30 supporters.
If you pledge today, you will not only receive one of our rewards, you'll help breathe life into an sustainable business.
Should I reach the initial target of £1,750, the stretch target is set at £7,500. This will enable this brand to move from into professional space and grow the business. In 2020 we have goals to be an accredited living wage provider, to provide flexible working hours, as well as training and employment for people with mental health issues. We will be part of the change makers pushing to remove the stigma around mental health.
