Aim

Raising funds to give young mums in Ghana the invaluable gift of HOPE!

Andrew co-founded The Paul Hodges Trust in 2018 to support some of the world's poorest women and girls. A big focus of our work is giving young mums living in poverty the training, resources and emotional support they need to survive and thrive.

Through our projects, young women are able to realise their immense potential and build a better future for themselves and their children - breaking the cycle of poverty.

In honour of Andrew's 30th Birthday, we are fundraising to support a new cohort of young mums, like Nancy, to join our projects.

Anything you can contribute towards helping achieve this target and giving the gift of hope will be massively appreciated. Every £100 raised is another life changed!

Thank you.

Nancy's Story

1641861195_image00067.jpeg When Nancy was 13 her father died. Her mother, a subsistence farmer, struggled to look after Nancy and her siblings, with no way to earn an income. Nancy was forced to drop out of school - the family barely had enough to eat, never mind money for school fees and uniforms and Nancy's siblings grew ill. Desperate to find a way to help her family and dreaming of one day saving enough money to go back to school, age 15, Nancy travelled to Kumasi, hundreds of miles from home, to sell water sachets on the street.

When Nancy returned home, she was pregnant. "When I told my mum, she just cried. She couldn't look at me. I was so scared. After the birth of my daughter, I did the only few things I could to survive. They were the darkest days of my life."

Through The Paul Hodges Trust "Vocational Training for Young Mums" project, Nancy was selected to complete a 1-year tailoring apprenticeship. She has now graduated, received her own sewing machine and is running a small business. "I never thought I could get this second chance, but my life is going in the right direction now. I am earning money to look after my daughter. I will work hard to make sure she never has to do what I had to do. I've met other young women in the same position and I now have a real support network."

Can you help us give more young women hope?
