On the 13th August 2023 we'd raised £6,095 with 101 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Extra funding from our stretch target will go towards the next big project - touring the album! Help us take the sound of Alvorada far and wide!
We are Alvorada, a quintet specialising in choro and instrumental Brazilian music. Since 2016 we have been bringing the irresistible sounds of choro to audiences around London and the UK. And now we are at the exciting stage of producing a second album!
We released and toured our debut album 'First Light' in 2019, and were delighted by the response from audiences and critics. In addition to sold shows around the UK, we played at the International Choro Festival in Paris. We received a 5-star review from Songlines magazine, and were featured on BBC Radio 3 and Jazz FM. We won the Latin UK award for Best Brazilian Band, and the Focus Brasil press awards for Best Brazilian group.
We have since been working towards a new album, with a view to making a bolder yet more considered work of art. We recorded the new material last November and have recently been putting the final touches to the tracks. This new project shows a deeper and more mature sound from the band, with intricate arrangements of almost all original compositions. We view the world of choro through a wider lens, including influences such as baião, xote, jazz and tango. We are also delighted to be featuring two guest artists, Brazilian accordion maestro Vitor Gonçalves and Israeli pianist Roee Ben Sira. Their participation is a stunning addition to the already beautiful-sounding album.
Where you come in
The recording was made possible by funding from Help Musicians UK, for which we are very grateful. However, recording is just the beginning. We're now here to ask your support to help us pay for the post-production stages of our album: mixing, mastering, artwork, CD printing and promotion. Help our music make the journey from the recording studio to your ears!
We have a selection of enticing rewards, which you can sign up to when you pledge your donation. On offer are CDs, gig tickets, sheet music, and intimate private events. We are hugely grateful for any amount you can contribute. You can also help us by sharing our campaign with anyone you think would be interested in contributing.
Thank you!
We really appreciate your support. Whether you already know us and are fans of our music, or whether you've only just discovered us, we look forward to sharing the finished album with you, and hope to see you soon at our shows in the future.
